One day while riding the
hills around Richmond, Utah, we discovered to my go fortune,
that Ruby liked side saddles.
Kacy figured it out when the lead horse refused to take the
lead up a steeper part of the trail. So I moved Ruby
around the leader and we went straight up the hill. This
little hill is where we discovered it...she would normally
take a steep area at a bit of a side-ways stride. When
she took this hill with me in my New (to me at the time)
side saddle, we went straight up the hill. And I could
tell by her attitude that she was in great spirits
through the whole ride. I do have good comparison for
what was a good ride and a disgruntled one. She would
always let her hoofs click when I rode her in a western saddle, this means she would shorten
her stride. After I started riding her side saddle
she never, ever clicked her hoofs on any trail with me.
Ruby and I had a great ride with our friends. Emma (a spotted T.W.H.) is just to her right, ridden by Lane, owner of the stable were Ruby was boarded at. Kacy is behind the camera on Kooners, a gorgeous black bay, Tennessee Walking horse stallion. Everyone else in our group are on quarter horses.
Ruby and I got to ride in the Wellsville, Utah all horse parade for three years in a row.
I had the cushion of my saddle relined.
Ruby liked the new padding so well she gave me a beautiful running walk. And a wonderful cantor around the indoor arena we were having our fitting at.
Ever
time we went around the arena she kept looking in all the
mirrors. There were about six of them placed around the
arena to make sure the rider was in his or her
proper position. So we stopped to let her have a
close up....can't you see her smiling as BIG as her
rider....teeeheee....
...!!!!
I hope Ruby is as happy with her new owner, for she is missed!!!
